Explore Our 5 Climate Challenges
Air Quality
Biodiversity
Extreme Weather
Food Security
Water Scarcity
Air Quality
Clean air is essential for life, supporting all living organisms, including humans, animals, and plants. Maintaining good air quality means having a balanced concentration of gases in the atmosphere, allowing ecosystems to thrive and people to lead healthy lives. However, air quality can be compromised by natural events and human activities that release pollutants.
Biodiversity
Biodiversity refers to the variety of life on Earth, encompassing all living organisms—plants, animals, fungi, and microorganisms—and the ecosystems they form. Biodiversity includes three main components: genetic diversity, species diversity, and ecosystem diversity.
Extreme Weather
Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and severe, which is one of the clearest indicators of a changing climate. These events include heatwaves, hurricanes, droughts, floods, and wildfires, and they are occurring more often than they did in the past due to human-induced climate change.
Food Security
Food security refers to the availability of sufficient, safe, and nutritious food to ensure that people can lead healthy, active lives. It involves four key components: Availability, Access, Stability and Utilisation
Water Scarcity
Water scarcity refers to the lack of sufficient water resources to meet the demands of a region, including household, agricultural, and industrial needs. Currently, about one-third of the global population lives in regions experiencing water scarcity, and this number is expected to grow due to increasing demand, overuse, and the effects of climate change.
